About The Silo

The Silo is a budgeting and debt payoff planner for households. Accounts, cards, loans, investments, the house: one place, one honest picture, and a plan with an actual end date on it. Plus a forecast that tells you an account is about to go negative while you can still do something about it.

The idea isn't complicated. Your financial information is yours. No ads, no selling your data, no bank deciding what you get to see. Just where the money goes and when the debt ends.

What it does

Keeps the whole picture. Every checking, savings, and cash account. Every card, loan, and mortgage with its real APR, promo window, and the minimum formula the issuer actually uses. Investments with nightly prices and dividends. Home equity and the other stuff you own. Households share their books; anyone can keep an account to themselves.

Looks forward, not just back. Bills and paychecks post themselves on schedule. The coffee, gas, and grocery habit settles into honest three-month averages that feed the forecast. Upcoming runs a month to ten years out, and if a payment would overdraw an account, The Silo says so, with every balance projected for that exact day. Before the fee, not after.

Gives the debt an end date. Avalanche, snowball, or your own order. Tell it what extra you can manage and it simulates the payoff month by month, respecting the cash you have, watching for promo rates that quietly expire, rolling every freed-up payment onto the next target. Got a consolidation offer? Type in the terms and get the before-and-after. Sometimes it helps. Now you'll know either way.

Stays truthful. When your numbers and the bank's drift apart, enter the real balance and The Silo books the difference, then lets you break it down into what it actually was, at your own pace. No mystery numbers. No hand-waving.

Reads the statement so you don't have to. Upload a statement and The Silo checks every line against what you've already logged, adds what's missing, and sets the balance. You see all of it before anything changes. Nothing lands without your say-so.

Why I built The Silo

Like a lot of small business owners, I could never find the financial planning app I actually wanted. Nothing let me look ahead three months, or five years. Nothing warned me about an overdraft months in advance. I wanted to understand my own finances, use that to get out of debt, pay off the house, and leave something solid for my kid and whatever family he ends up with.

Then there's the privacy thing. I'm tired of sites asking for access to every real financial account I have so I can hopefully not dip into the red over weekend coffee. Those "we'll track everything" apps mostly sell a false sense of security. Pretty graphs are nice. How long until one of those systems gets hacked?

The Silo is my way of taking my information back. The goal is simple: track your finances without handing the keys to a random website. Spending habits are your own business. With The Silo, anonymity is part of the product. All you need is an email. We will never ask for access to an account. Your data will never be marketed. My job is to put more money back in your pocket. That's the whole mission.

The price

The price you join at is your price for as long as you keep your subscription. It doesn't go up. Share The Silo with a friend and you get a free month when they become a paying member. A Business plan (coming soon) keeps a small business's books right next to the household's. Flag business income and expenses, invoice your customers, pull the business reports. Still no bank login.

Your privacy, your data

Each household's books are private to that household. Members share their own data and nothing else. We don't sell, rent, or share personal information, and we run no advertising. Card details never touch our servers; payments go through a PCI-compliant processor's hosted pages, and we keep a brand and last four digits for display, nothing more. Sign-in has two-factor authentication with recovery codes, and anything security-related, like a password change, gets you an email.

Email, minimally

You'll get the email your account needs: password resets you asked for, verification, invitations, security notices, receipts. Beyond that, the occasional note about something new or worth knowing, and the newsletter checkbox in your profile turns those off. What we will never do is sell or hand your email address to a third party. Not to advertisers, not to "partners," not to anyone. Bounces and complaints are handled automatically, and closing your account ends all of it.
